Angela Chapa

General Manager, Integrated Services Group

Through my whole career I’ve had a lot of challenges, and I think that’s one of the things that I personally thrive on. New challenges, new opportunities and new problems to solve — that keeps me going, for sure.”

Angela loves a challenge. She’s had plenty of them in her 25 years with Ferguson — and that’s just the way she likes it. Throughout her career she has traveled to serve customers around the country, working in buying and manufacturing, automotive and aerospace, heavy machining, and pharmaceuticals, and more. What keeps her going are the opportunities to continually learn about new areas and industries, and the chance to bring value to customers, help people, and work on solving new problems.

After getting her start with Ferguson as an administrative assistant at Kennametal’s Full-Service Supply division before its acquisition, her career evolved as her skills and experience grew. Today Angela is a General Manager leading a team of 6 account managers in a group 140 associates strong, managing customers from Rhode Island to Southern California and all the way down to Puerto Rico. While she herself reflects on many proud moments in her career — like leading successful ERP system conversions and exceeding expectations on new customer contracts — she also takes great pride in the company overall, recognizing Ferguson’s unique ability to holistically evaluate customers’ systems and add value through things like integration, problem solving, and cost savings.

Angela credits her success to her willingness to listen and try new things, staying flexible and embracing challenges have created opportunities along her career path. She encourages others to not only try new things but also to ask for help from others and, most importantly, get comfortable with change. She explains change is constant in life, and especially in the industrial space, and says it’s critical to help customers evolve by always focusing on bringing them new ideas to adapt, get better, and take on their own new challenges.

Questions & Answers
Would you rather be the funniest or smartest person in the room? Why?
Answer:

"I would say the funniest person only because you can still be the smartest person in the room, but the funniest person usually disarms people more which makes the people around them to be more genuine."

If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?
Answer:

"I have two answers to this one, and when I came up with this one, I think was about 10 and it was from a scenario where you get 3 wishes from a genie, what would your wishes be? And I said my very first wish would be unlimited wishes. My next answer would be time. If you had an unlimited supply of time, just think of how many great things you could get accomplished and we're always running out of it."

What is something you’re planning on doing in the next year that you’ve never done before?
Answer:

"Taking my family abroad to Europe."

What is the weirdest fact you know?
Answer:

“I just learned what a Sonic tag is. For example, when you turn on Netflix and it makes a noise at the start-up screen, that is a Sonic tag. If you were to hear that sound without seeing an image, you would know that is Netflix. There’s a whole industry out there that does nothing but create these Sonic tags for companies and all of the research that goes behind them I find fascinating.”

How would people describe you in three words?
Answer:

“Tech-savvy, nice and talented.”

If you were a pair of shoes, what would you be? Why?
Answer:

“A really rare, cool and expensive set of sneakers. Like an original pair of Jordans and they've only created four in the whole world and the other three got destroyed already.”

If you were a superhero, who would it be, and why?
Answer:

"Captain Marvel. She's very smart. She's one of the most powerful, but she's also very humble."
